(exctraction from Regulations about marks and the way of marking of fairways in the internal sea waters and territorial sea of the Republic of Croatia)
In dependance on their maximum height, water depth, piers protection, regime of navigation in one of both directions, bridges are marked in the following way:
- For daily navigation:
a) If it is considered necessary and if the navigation is possible through the entire span of the bridge, marks will be placed on
its piers, and if the navigation is possible only through one part of its span, marks will be placed above or on the
navigational channel, marking its safe borders;
b) The best point of passage is marked by a round panel coloured with red and white vertical stripes.
- For nightly navigation:
a) If the navigation is possible through the entire span of the bridge, lights are placed on its piers and if the navigation is
possible only through a part of its span, lights are placed above or on the navigational channel marking its safe borders.
b) The best point of passage is marked by white light or lights situated under the span of the bridge and their characteristics
are the same as for safe water mark.
- As an alternative to lights, flash lights may be used to lighten daily marks and piers lighting may be satisfactory for its marking. By night, a reflecting material can be used for daily marks.
