Cardinal Marks

(exctraction from Regulations about marks and the way of marking of fairways in the internal sea waters and territorial sea of the Republic of Croatia)

By Cardinal (basic) marking system the following is marked:

a) deepest waters on the side which has this mark;
b) safe sides when passing a danger; this system is also used for marking of an important place of a channel (curve, junction,
     bi-furcation or end of shallow waters).


Cardinal (basic) marks are named according to quadrants in which they are placed and indicate that one should pass on determined side of the mark.
